Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
