'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate immediately hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result sealed an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
