Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism made him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
